In the wake of rising data breaches and enforcements, data privacy has been brought to the forefront. Coupled with new data protection laws expected to be implemented within the region in the next few years, the demand for data protection expertise is stronger than ever.

Based on ISO/IEC 27701, this course is designed to help participants understand the fundamental concepts and principles of a Privacy Information Management System (PIMS) that will lay the foundation for individuals to embark on their data protection career.

the structure of the standard including its requirements, guidance and controls on the protection of the privacy of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) principles
the relationship of the standard with ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27002

Edwin is the Head of the Data Protection-as-a-Service unit. As an international trainer and consultant, he provides privacy and data protection training, consulting and advisories to various organisations which include retail and hospitality, publishing, education, telecommunications and others. He has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry in various management roles from enterprise solutions, marketing and product management.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Understand the fundamental concepts and principles of a privacy information management system (PIMS) based on ISO/IEC 27701.
Identify the relationship between ISO/IEC 27701, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27002, and other standards and regulatory frameworks.
Understand the approaches, standards, methods and techniques used for the implementation and management of a PIMS.

COURSE MODULE

Day 1 - Introduction to privacy management system (PIMS) concepts as specified in ISO/IEC 27701.
Day 2 - Privacy information management system (PIMS) and *Certification Exam

Note: Online exam is not taken during the 2 days course.

Day 1 & 2: 10:00am to 5:30pm, Singapore time (UTC/GMT +8 hours)

EXAMINATION

The examination duration is 1 hour by *online proctoring. Exam format will be multiple choice questions.
*Online proctoring: candidates are free to select to do it at their convenient date and time using their laptop. Candidates are remotely invigilated by PECB authorised invigilators via webcam

The “PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27701 Foundation” exam fully meets the requirements of the PECB Examination and Certification Programme (ECP). The exam covers the following competency domains:

Domain 1 Fundamental principles and concepts of a privacy information management system (PIMS)
Domain 2 Privacy information management system (PIMS)

CERTIFICATION

After successfully passing the exam, the participant can apply for the "PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27701 Foundation" credential.

These are the requirements for the PECB Foundation Certification:

A participation certificate of 14 CPD (Continuing Professional Development) credits will be issued by PECB.
In case of exam failure, candidates can retake the exam for a second time at no additional fees within a time frame of 12 months following the initial exam

When registration is confirmed, participants will receive our email confirmation along with information about the course programme. If no seats are available for the applied date, you will be notified immediately and given an alternative date. Straits Interactive reserves the right to change the course schedules, programmes and content without prior notice. We also reserve the right to cancel courses due to unforeseen circumstances.

CANCELLATION

All requests for withdrawal must be made in writing to Straits Interactive.

Refunds arising from course withdrawal will be subject to the following terms:

More than 2 weeks before course commencement: Full refund.
Less than 2 weeks before course commencement: 50% refund.

No refund of fees will be accepted for any withdrawals after the release and receipt of course materials.
